I can't seem to create a nickname on iTunes in order to leave app reviews. I tried on my iPhone and on my mac via iTunes. Every time i get the error "This nickname is taken. Enter another and try again." I even tried resorting to using a random alphanumeric generator and I still couldn't get a unique nickname. There has to be some sort of bug.
Same exact issue for me. Haven't gone so far as to have a nickname randomly generated, but I did try a nickname consisting of my blinding typing out about 15-20 random numbers several times and nothing works.
The best is when this happens in conjuction with you having typed out a long review on your phone, which this error promptly erases. Great.
I've also tried logging into my Mac, going into my iTunes and creating the Nickname in the Account setting and I get the same result as when attempting it on my iPhone. No matter how random the number-letter combo, the nickname "taken". Definitely a bug.
I just spend over an hour on the phone with 3 different people at Apple Support and there is nothing that they can do over the phone to help. I have tried over 500 nicknames with very specific things like my name, DOB, addresses, phone numbers and they have all been taken which is hard for me to believe. Very very frustrated- I'm just trying to leave a review for a podcast.
I feel you. I even got access to a Senior Advisor, but because she couldn't duplicate the issue she couldnt help. I restored my phone to factory settings just to see if I could get one of my devices to work. No luck. Also just trying to leave a podcast review!
It's so frustrating. I talked to a senior person at Apple too and they said this is the only place to get help. If you go to an Apple store they wont be able to help either. I want to SCREAM!!! Guess there is nothing that can be done 😟
It's a week later and still seeing the same thing. Only time I ever badly wanted to write a review and I can't. Blah
I'm having the same problem, on both my iPhone and the computer. I just cannot leave a review.
I'm having the same problem. Tried a dozen or so utterly unique usernames and nothing worked. Must be a bug. I realized I was using an older version of iTunes, but I upgraded to the latest, 12.4.1.6 (on Windows 7), and had the same problem. Very annoying.
