You can check for updates by launching the App Store then select Updates from the menu top of the App Store window.

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download El Capitan from the Mac App Store. If you have access to Mavericks or Yosemite, you can upgrade to that OS instead.

It isn’t possible to upgrade FaceTime past 2.0 on Mountain Lion.
