What error message did you get during install? Note that iTunes could be installed on Windows 64-bit OS only.

The error message is ''this application can't run on your PC, to find a version for your PC, check with the soft ware publisher"

Make sure Windows is fully up to date with Windows Update.
Clear your browser's cache, then download iTunes from the Further information area of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
Open your downloads folder and select the installer. Press Ctrl+C to copy.
Right-click on an empty area of the folder or your desktop and click Paste shortcut.
Right-click on the shortcut and click Properties.
On the Compatibility tab choose Windows 7 and tick Run this program as an administrator.
Click OK, then double-click the shortcut to run it.

If that doesn't work you could see if the next most recent version of iTunes will install, rather than the current one, or try the steps given at Install missing components to install each component of iTunes individually.
