my iphone 6 was snatched 1 day ago, i have my imei no. and have lodged a police complaint and want to locate the phone, perhaps at that moment find my phone was not on.
pls suggest steps to locate my phone.

Knowing the IMEI has nothing to do with tracking the device. You cannot track by IMEI.
For Find My iPhone to work, several things need to be in place.
Find My iPhone has to have been turned on prior to the device being stolen.
The device needs to be powered on.
The device needs an active internet connection, either cellular or wi-fi.
Log into www.icloud.com and see if the device appears in your list of devices and if it can be located. If it is listed by shows offline, then it could be that the device's battery has died, the device has been turned off, or the SIM card has been removed.
