iPhone 4 with iOS7.1.2

How do I block ads on my iPhone 4. I can't find an ad blocker compatible with iOS 7.

Where are the ads showing up? Safari? Opera? Text messages?

It's on Safari. I usually don't use the phone for web browsing but when I go to a link from an email I can't read the story. The screen has more ads than anything else. I had a similar problem with my MacBook Pro but downloaded AdBlocker Plus and that fixed it. Everything I try to download on the phone needs iOS 8 or 9. The iPhone 4 has iOS 7.
