Sending text Messages with iPad via wi-fi .. stays as "sending"

After upgrading to iOS 9.3.1 on my iPad Air 2 -- When I try to send text messages via wi-fi -- the messages will go through as sent. BUT if i check back to the same message a few minutes later - the status at the top of the message has reverted back to "sending..."

If I double check on my iPhone -- the "sending..." message isnt there, so I assume that my texts have gone through correctly.

And yes, I do get replies back, so I know they must be going through despite the iPad still telling me that the message is "sending...."

I don't have this issue with my iPhone 6+ ... just my iPad since the update.

Anyone else having this issue??
