Q: Mail in El Capitan won't allow me to 'reply'

I used to love my iMac....but that was before El Capitan

Now mail is now next to useless as when I reply either by clicking on the back arrow or by other means I just get a blank email pop up form appearing, nothing is copied across.

Its like just starting a blank new email, but won't close when I click the 'x' icon

This is definitely a 'mail' bug, nothing to do with web access or similar.

I'm very angry as I use 'mail' constantly and this really defines the iMac experience form me.

I might as well switch to using Nylas N1 full time, then switch to a Linux distro if Im having to constantly fight with Apple apps.

Completely unacceptable Apple

So PLEASE Apple, how do I fix this and get to love my iMac again?

Thank you

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
