Q: I have a new ISP. They changed how my searches appear.

I have a new ISP, and although I did NOT select their website as my homepage, now the results of my searches include their website page.  I cannot see where they are listed as my search engine.  Google still appears as my search engine, but my searches are definitely using their search engine.  How can I get back the Google search engine, and remove Century Link's search engine? Please help me? RRR

That screen you provide is similar to the one I received using my previous ISP in Ohio.  If Apple's auto complete didn't have the solution, then the page saying 'Server Not Found' would appear saying that Safari could not find a server at the web address that Apple auto completed from my original word.  In Indiana with Century Link now my ISP the problem begins. The problem with Century Link started when I tried to go to Sony.com, and I only typed in Sony.  Apple auto completed sony.us.com and that's when the Century Link page came up with suggestions that did not relate in any way to Sony, and the web address at the top of Safari was search.centurylink.com, and the page had a Search bar with the word Search to the right of the box where you enter text.  Changing the DNS to the suggestions provided here in this discussion did nothing to remove the Century Link page appearing when I type in sony at the top of Safari.  Century Link options continued to appear.  Including a space at the end of the word 'sony ' made the Century Link page disappear from my view.  Maybe Century Link interfering in one's searches doesn't bother some, but since experiencing a hack where my bank info was stolen, I am leery of anything not normal appearing on my iMac.

That page with the Century Link brand on it and the Search Bar in it is exactly the page I am complaining about.  I never had to put up with that kind of interference with my Ohio ISP.  I want Century Link out of my searches. Thanks for providing the picture.  I haven't figured out how to accomplish that in this area. I know how to take a screen shot, but I do not knowhow to get that screen shot into this area.

I didn't want to go back over all the posts but you may want to disable "Include Safari Suggestions" in Safari's Search preferences if it's enabled. When I type "Sony" into the Smart Search Field I only get Google results.

That's good info to know. Now we know exactly what it is you're seeing. The question then is why is it all the time? I don't see it unless I type in a web address that doesn't exist.

I know how to take a screen shot, but I do not knowhow to get that screen shot into this area.

Two ways. Either click the camera icon at the top of the editing box while you're composing a reply, or just drag and drop them into the edit window. A green box will appear where the image is going to be placed when doing the latter.

Rebekkah, the remote session would be free.
I don't charge for this kind of thing, I've volunteered to try and solve the problem and sometimes an in-depth look can help pin down what's going on.

I use Teamviewer for screen sharing sessions and available most evenings 8/7 Central if you're interested.

Will document any findings with you and help provide a solution for all.

Personally, I would not allow anyone remote access to my computer unless it is Apple support.

I agree. Nothing against chattphotos but it seems like a bad idea.

Absolutely nothing personal - I wouldn't allow anyone access (I actually at first turned down an Apple rep's request to do so; when we simply weren't getting anywhere, I did allow it on the second call. FWIW, it did not solve the problem at all. Their engineers finally did after I uploaded capturedata).

I've only done a screen share with Apple twice. The first time I forget why. The second time I ended up with the answer from the rep of "Well that's weird".

Thanks for all the feedback. Someone stole my X Box One last night, My neighbor is too lazy to unlock her car every time she goes outside she sets off her car alarm, her non disabled mother parks in the disabled parking spot blocking my bus's ability to pick me up, too much going on now for me to go any further with this problem.

    From CL Twitter support:

If you are referencing our Web Helper at the centurylink domain, there is an option in the lower right hand corner to disable it.  Some platforms may still have the upper right hand corner link asking 'Why am I here?' which will lead the user to an option to opt out.  If that fails and the user is still redirected to Web Helper after opting out twice, they will need to contact our Tech Support team so they can open a ticket.

    -Timo

I've pointed CL to this thread that this needs a real resolution.
