Can you watch your movies and tv shows if downloaded to apple tv without wifi?

I believe you need an internet connection to verify the purchases.

Also, Apple TV doesn't store movies, it just buffers them for playback. You can download movies to iTunes on a computer, and play them from there, but you still need the internet connection.
