Q: Still running on Mac OX S 10.6.8 I installed more memory

Stil running MAC OXS 10.6.8. I installed more memory & now want to update to El Capitan. But I want to back up ALL my photos first into a thumbdrive. I'm not tech savvy, hence why I waited so long. Can anyone help give simple instructions on how to do this. My USB is TURBO 3.0

    You need to copy your iPhoto library to a volume that is formatted as shown in this screenshot:

    First is your thumb drive large enough to hold your iPhoto Library?  If it is then make sure it's formatted as above and drag the library to it.  Once the copying is completed you can upgrade the system to El Capitan via the App Store.
