How to use AirDrop to transfer content from MBP Late 2011 to iPad Pro

HI,

I have a MBP 15 Late 2011 running El Capitan and a new iPad Pro 12.9 256 GB. I am unable to transfer content from MBP to iPad. In fact, my MBP AirDrop is not detecting the iPad. Both the devices have different Apple IDs (MBP has mine and iPad has my wife's Apple ID). The AirDrop window in Finder does't show the "Allow me to be discovered" option. Please find below the screenshot: -

Also, when I go to AirDrop with Bluetooth off, it doesn't ask me to turn on the Bluetooth as mentioned in the link Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support

Please tell me a solution to this and tell me how can I get both of my devices to wireless interact with each other.

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
