First few bars no sound???

I am using the new version of GB. 12GB RAM mid-2011 iMac i7 quad.

I have my drum track set.

i added a new track and recorded software instrument synth, used count in option.

Recording no issue but when I play back from beginning the synth track has no sound untill the third bar.

If I drag the synth part further down the time line, the first part of the synth track plays fine. The drum track is unaffected amd plays properly right from the start.
