trackpad/mouse freezes up on macbook pro 13 retina display

After using my macbook the trackpad freezes up and the pointer will not move and I have to shut my computer down from the on switch. Just got the macbook a month ago.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
