Q: iPod Touch 5 - Shuts off during boot up
iPod Touch 5th gen - iOS 9 (9.3.1 I believe).
A few days ago my iPod Touch battery died and shut off, so I plugged it up like normal, it went to the lock screen, then shut off. Ever since then, when I try to turn it back on, the Apple logo shows up for about 5-10 seconds then it just shuts off. I have tried letting the battery drain completely by clamping the power button down for 24+ hours and then plugging it in, but the same thing happens. I've tried letting it charge for 24+ hours, but that didn't fix it either. iTunes on my PC won't recognize it because it doesn't boot up all the way, and my home button is broken so I'm unable to attempt entering DFU mode. Even if I could enter DFU/Recovery mode, I really, really, REALLY do NOT want to have to restore it because 1. It would be a major pain to get all my data back, and 2. I don't have a recent backup.
So I don't really know what else to try. Could it possibly be that the battery has failed? It's quite old and hardly holds a charge any more. If I were to get the home button replaced and am able to get it into DFU mode, is there anything I could do to fix it without restoring?
It has never been jailbroken or modified. I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary with it before this happened, it just occurred out of the blue.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
iPod touch, iOS 9.3.1
