Mouse and keyboard unresponsive in Bootcamp

Hi, I've been trying to install a copy of Windows 7 onto my Mac via Bootcamp. Everything has installed so far except for the fact that my mouse and keyboard are unresponsive on the first screen which asks you to make an account.

The copy of Windows 7 is genuine.

I understand this is a problem with Windows 7 not recognising USB 3 inputs but haven't found a solution online.

I tried manualing installing some drivers as per the guide here but that didn't work.

doubt it's a usb3 thing mice and keyboard don't need those speeds they would be fine with usb1.1 in terms of what data they transfer

make sure all drivers are installed check device manager to see if some are not

and stick with the bootcamp drivers don't let windows convince you to upgrade video card driver and the likes
