using the cloud to connect my iPhone SE (iOS 9.3.1), iPad 4 (iOS 9.3.1) to my iMac (late 2012 elCapitan 10.11.4). Want to delete pictures from iPhone and iPad, leaving them stored in the iMac. How??

Use the steps in here

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer - Apple Support

Once the pictures are imported - you can delete them off iPhone and iPad

Are you using iCloud Photo Library? If so I would urge you to read these FAQs as deleting photos in one device will delete them in the other. I have responded to many users who have inadvertently deleted their valuable photos as a result.
