The current iPod nano is still called "7th gen" by Apple. Some vendors may call it "8th gen" because Apple revised the color choices (along with a minor update to software). The original version and the 2015 version of the 7th gen iPod nano are essentially identical in functionality. They even have the same model number on the back. The one difference is system requirements for the Mac or Windows PC running iTunes to sync it, which is the purpose of that "minor update to software." With the current 2015 version, Macs must run OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) or later and PCs must run Windows 7 or later. Both with iTunes 12.2 or later.
So, unless you are running Snow Leopard or earlier on your Mac OR Windows Vista or earlier on your PC, you can get the current 2015 version of 7th gen iPod nano.
btw, if u can still get the 6th gen if rather have that as it looks nicer as I prefer ios 5!!
Not sure what you mean by that, because iPods (that are not iPod touch) do not run iOS at all. They have their own specific iPod software.
Keep in mind that iPod touch is a handheld computer, expandable with apps, and it has an Internet connection over WiFi. iPod nano is a media player device. It does what it does when you buy it, nothing more, nothing less. No Internet connection. No third-party apps. No Apple Music streaming service. It is better for some things, like exercise. I use it to track my runs. I don't want to carry around my iPod touch or iPhone for running. But don't expect it to do all the stuff that is possible on an iPod touch.
