I'm running OSX 10.6.8.
On this page: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202410 is says: "ProRes 4444 XQ is supported on OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 or later." I suppose that means what it says, but I assumed a codec was just some kind of data used by QT used to enable it to work with that codec. Or is it just like an app, and it needs a certain OS to operate?
What I'm getting at is this: if I download the codec bundle from this page: Pro Video Formats 2.0.4, where there is no mention of System Requirements, and install them (I found some instructions that tells me how to do this), it kind of works. ProRes 4444 appears as an export option – but not ProRes 4444 XQ.
Is that because the system knows it can't use ProRes 4444 XQ, so it doesn't appear?
