Q: My macbook pro will not allow me to login with my admin account
Hi,
Hopefully somebody can help me out. My macbook pro is a 2006 17 inch 2.4 ghz running El Capitain.
Today I shutdown my mac with no signs of anything wrong. Now that I have restarted it, it will no longer log me in with my admin account.
When the login screen comes up, I get two options - to sign in with mine (which is the only made account on my mac) and guest user. I can see my normal background all blurred out (which is normal for the login screen), and I do have the option to login with my password. However, when I do attempt to login with my password, it seems to try to login (the password box goes away and the little spinning circle pops up), the screen goes black for maybe ten seconds or so (seemingly like I'm going to my home screen) and it comes right back to my login screen, showing my account and the guest user account as my two options.
My mac is allowing me to access the user account (though none of my data is on there), and I can login with my admin name and password under the users section of system preferences, so it is recognizing my account to some degree.
I also tried holding shift during its boot to get into a safe boot, and the same stuff happened - I couldn't login with my admin account but could use the guest user.
If anyone could help me out with this, it would be a lifesaver.
