Q: iPod 5 or 6 line out.

I am connecting a portable headphone amp to an iPod 6 and would like to use line out ie lightning to 3.5mm jack. Are there any available as they all seem to be 30 pin for the iPod 4?

The Lightning connector does not provide analog audio output, which is probably why there are not products that go directly from the Lightning connector to a mini-stereo jack. However, Apple's Lightning to 30-pin adapter

converts the digital signal to analog. That should mean you can connect the 30-pin audio accessory you use with your older iPod. But it does not work with all 30-pin accessories.

Hi Kenichi, thank you for your info. I have since bought an L19 lead which works well. The amp is a FiiO E17K Alpen 2 which is also a DAC so this cable goes from lightning to mini USB. Both the power and quality have been improved as it bypasses the iPod amp.
