Desktop is crystal clear, Finder is not open-able and Spotlight search hidden

Hi,

I really need help with my mac air OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.

The desktop is crystal clear, I can not show a screenshot because there is nothing on it and every time I take a screenshot it's not on the desktop.

I tried searching up a Spotlight fix for mac and all I found was access Terminal from applications, my problem is that Finder won't even open, the thing looks like it's opening by going up and and down on the dock a bit but only shows 3 windows, Finder File and Help, under Finder, there is About Finder, Run Full Finder, Services -> No services apply, Hide Finder and Hide Others, the option Show All is grayed out. Under the file window, the option "Close window" is also greyed out. And the last window is Help.

I have tried force quitting (Command + Option + Esc) the finder application maybe about 50 times but shows no help either. I tried opening Launchpad but the only thing I saw was a grey box which shows a resemblance of a folder and it is called Other but there's nothing in it.

Thank you for reading this,

I suggest you shut down the computer immediately and don't turn it on again until you have at least one external hard drive (two or more recommended) to dedicate to backup. Each backup drive must have at least enough capacity to hold all the data on the internal drive comfortably, as well as any data that you have on secondary drives. Then follow the instructions in this support article.
