Q: Ipod Classic wont sync

Hey guys!

Im having trouble with my ipod classic. I don't know what generation it is cause it was a gift from a friend.

I have a lot of issues with this ipod.

At first it would randomly pause my music or the hold button wouldn't stop the functions, meaning the volume would still change or the songs changes.

Now my ipod has completely stopped working. It white screened and said "Do not disconnect" when it would be be connected to anything. So I said alright leave it alone for a bit get home and restore it.
Got home restored it and now the music won't download. Anytime my ipod classic is connected to my computer and itunes. Itunes would be on the fritz. It would freeze up and stop working. The point it would freeze is when it begins to download the music, about 15 songs in, every time it would freeze up.
What i did was deleted itunes and re-downloaded it (i always kept it up to date). Still the same problem occurred. So that left the problem to be the ipod. So i restored it again, disconnected it and re-connected it. Now when i did that my computer said that Disk F (the ipod) has some problem and to scan and fix it, so I did. Turns out that didn't work, itunes didn't accept the ipod so i had to restore it again.  The problem still occurred.

So the Main Problem is this:
My ipod classic when connected to itunes will not download music and my itunes would not be working.

What i did

- Restore ipod

- Re-download itunes

iPod classic, Windows 10, Ipod software 1.1.2

Based on your info, the most likely cause is a faulty hard drive in iPod.  Since you already tried doing a Restore, the iPod not working properly after doing a Restore usually means there is a hardware problem.

One more thing you can try is to reformat the iPod using Windows, like it's a USB storage device.  iTune should not be running.  If the iPod does not appear in Windows, put it into Disk Mode

If you're not familiar with reformatting drives in Windows, look it up online.  For the format type (or "file system"), use FAT32.  Do not use the option to do a quick format.  If the procedure completes successfully (does not stall or error out), run iTunes.  The iPod's hard drive no longer has its onboard software, so you need to do another Restore using iTunes (even if not prompted).  After the Restore, try syncing your songs to see of the problem still occurs.

What i did was deleted itunes and re-downloaded it

As a side note, if you delete only iTunes and then reinstall it, that may cause problems.  You may want use this procedure to completely remove iTunes and related software components.  This Apple document lists all components of an iTunes installation and the precise order to remove them.

Then install the latest version of iTunes

NOTE:  I don't think this is related to your problem with iPod.
