Managing inbox mailbox

How do I eliminate the squiggly line appearing in the mailbox menu, inbox, after the number of new emails?

Screen shots are taken with Shift + Command + 3 (for entire screen) or Shift + Command + 4 (for a smaller area you would define). You would then use the camera icon in the box used to edit or insert material into this thread to insert the screen shot.

That aside, a squiggly line in mail usually indicates a broken connection to the mail server. Assuming you are using Apple's Mail app, use its menu to go to Windows > Connection Doctor to see that your connections are working properly.

Can you successfully get to your gmail using Safari (http://www.gmail.com)?

You might consider checking at Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [your gmail account] to make sure your password appears everywhere it should. Check thoroughly there ... look everywhere in that area.

You might also consider going to Mail > Accounts and deleting the gmail account and re-adding it.
