I had the same problem. Hold down the lock screen button and the home button at the same time until your iPhone restarts. That solved the issue for me.

Shutdown and restart helped but still got "problem with your account try again later" error message..

Restarting works. I had the same problem after purchasing my new iPhone 5s. Restarted and works!!!!!!!!!!!!
