Mac OS XIf your Mac does not recognize the iPod, the Honda CRV is probably not relevant to the problem. Does the iPod still work as an iPod and play music?
To rule out a faulty USB docking cable, try using a difference cable or use the current cable with another Apple device to confirm it works properly.
Do a Reset (restart) on the iPod, if you have not already
Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support (see section iPod with a click wheel)
Also restart the Mac. Then run iTunes and connect the iPod. If there's no difference, the iPod may have a hardware problem, or there may be data corruption on the iPod. Put the iPod into Disk Mode

Disconnect all USB devices from the Mac. You can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected, if used. Connect iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac, by itself. If iTunes picks it up, it may prompt you to do a Restore. The Restore erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings. If the problem was only data corruption, the Restore (and re-sync) should fix it. If the Restore does not resolve, the iPod may have a hardware problem
