Q: Photo email Problems

1. When using Share in Photo the picture appears in the email but I cannot insert a message. 2. When attempting to attach a picture from Photo to a separate email  I cannot find it, nor any other pictures from Photo to attach. I did not have either problem with iPhoto. Suggestions?

    1. Click with your mouse in the message body once and start typing, you'll see your words to the left of the already inserted picture, then tap the enter key on your keyboard twice and it will move the picture below the words you just typed at the beginning of this sentence.

    2. Click on the next to the last toolbar icon in the new message marked "show or hide the photo browser". This will launch a small Photos windows in the lower left corner of the new mail message for navigating to the desired picture. Once you locate the picture simply drag and drop it into the message body.

    1. Instructions for activating the curser on the email where the picture appears after going through Share worked. Many thanks!

    2. Found I had to work in Mac's Mail in order to drag a picture to an email. (Before El Capitan I was in the habit of using email accounts through my browser, not being a fan of the former Mail, attaching a picture from iPhoto, had no problem accessing it from there or from Pictures.) However, now working in Mail I do not get the same Photos windows you describe after hitting the icon you described. Instead I get a menu from Photos that lists Moment, Collections, Years and Albums. I created an Album back in Photos but  when I name the album (on that window in the lower left hand corner with Mail)  and press Enter nothing happens. I do not know how to get at the album or any picure through that menu. What I have to is open up Photos and then  drag the picture from there.

I miss IPhoto. It worked. I see nothing added to Photos that I would use or need.

Thank you for your help. Any more ideas are welcome.

    1. Good deal!

    2. Open a new email message and click on the "show or hide the photo browser" icon again. Now, click on the arrow to the left of each folder (Moment, Collections, Years and Albums) which will expand each of them revealing subfolders which I'm hoping will be the "missing" folders (with the missing photos inside) imported from iPhoto to Photos. Any luck?

No luck. The little menu will highlight only Albums, not the others named, so I created an an album. Earlier I could type in the name of the album (not today) but there is nothing that will activate anything.

Open Photos and on the Photos menu bar select View>"Show Side Bar".

Do those missing albums and their contents show up in the sidebar on the left window pane?

Yes, the one I created is there. I can find it in Album while in Photos also.

Just to make sure I'm clear...you can access any album within the small Photos window launched by the new email shortcut and drag and drop your photo into a new email now? (No more issues in other words)

Experimenting, I found one can access images in a couple of different ways to insert them in an email, except through Photo Browser using Mail. In that respect there are no issues with Photo attachments, only annoyance that my Photo Browser does not work.

    I found:

    • Dragging works only in Mail. Photos has to be open and image is dragged from there.

    • If images are exported to Pictures they can be found there to attach to an email open in any internet browser. Also works in Mail as well.

I am OK with the above unless there is a simpler way.

Many thanks for staying on this problem.

So when you create a new email and click on the icon to show a small photo browser window and click on the arrow to the left of "Moments"  (or any other album/folder) it does not expand as in my example below to include subfolders like my "March 10, 1999" album with photos inside?

except through Photo Browser using Mail. In that respect there are no issues with Photo attachments, only annoyance that my Photo Browser does not work.

The Photo  browser will only work with the Photos Library that is designated the System Photos Library in Photos' General preference pane:

The top line in my window shows, with icons, my name, Pictures, Library.photoslibrary.

FIeld with Use as System Photo Library is open, not grayed out.

Should something read differently? Something should be changed? If so, how?

    Thank you for your interest.

Click on the Use as System Library button so it is greyed out and then try the browser.
