Thanks for that, but it was the six digit passcode I was referring to, not the Password. I am nothing if not persistent and I tried over and over and over to Update then Restore the iPad; only to have the same reply of iPad Locked (after waiting fifteen minutes before being informed '6 Digit Passcode required')
I followed every link and piece of advice given to me but I cannot see anywhere where it was suggested to 'Reset the Device to Factory settings' in any of these posts. it would not connect to iTunes anyway., so that was impossible
For some unknown reason on the umpteenth try, it finally worked and am now awaiting for the device to be restored from a recent Backup. It has taken me six hours to get it to work. I have a Degree in IT and am not a fool, but this was one of the most frustrating exercises that I have ever endured.
