Q: MacBook Air fan making low ticking sound

My early 2015 MacBook Air fan started making a low ticking sound (top left of the computer next to the charging port) out of no where. This sound started and has not stop yet.

The fan may be failing You can run an Apple Hardware Test:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257

Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.

A better option is an appointment at an Apple store genus bar for a FREE evaluation.
