Q: Computer stops working after sleeping

when I wake up the computer from sleeping (2008 iMac, 6gb ram and 250gb SSD) it will not read the Mac HD nor the external drive. It has actually had issues opening or running anything out of sleeping since I updated to the SSD. is there. But with the system, or a way to bypass or fix it?p
