how to delete photo albums on iPhone 5

My phone storage is full because when syncing iPhone 5 to my Mac (10.10.5) it loaded 6.3GB of photos to my phone. I tried changing sync settings in iTunes but the photos are still on my phone. I do not get an option to delete albums when I go to photos>albums>edit. What am I missing here?

Those photos synced in through the mac have to be deleted similarly

Hook up the phone to the mac

On the left
Settings - Photos - check sync

Direct it to a relatively empty folder containing one image

Then sync

If you are not using iCloud Photo Library then try the following.

On your Mac, open iTunes, click on iTunes, select Preferences, Devices, and make sure "Prevent iPods..... from syncing automatically" is checked. Close iTunes.

Open Finder and under Music locate your iTunes folder. Expand it and if you see a folder called iPod Photo Cache, delete it. (iPod is correct, not iPad).

Then connect your iPhone to your Mac and open iTunes, select the phone, Photos tab, do a new sync with nothing selected, i.e., make sure no folders are selected. It will prompt you if you want to erase and sync and say yes. This should delete the photos that you previously synced from your computer.

Is iCloud Photo Library enabled in your phone? If it is the pictures are getting synced automatically across your devices.

If not then it would appear that the photos app is corrupted and you may have to do a system restore to correct.

First backup your device using iTunes. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your important photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:
