Recording audio while screen recording

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to use quicktime player to record the audio internally, not through my speakers and built in microphone, while I am screen recording. I am recording gameplay and would rather have the higher quality sound without background noise from my typing or cat.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

To use QuickTime to record the Mac screen and Mac audio is not by itself possible. QuickTime normally only offers the choice of using an external sound source e.g. a microphone or line-in connection. However it is possible if you use an additional sound driver.

In the past the most popular solution to do this was to use a tool called SoundFlower. Unfortunately SoundFlower is no longer being developed it seems by either the original author - Matt Ingalls, nor by Rogue Amoeba, as such it is not currently compatible with El Capitan.

There maybe some alternatives to SoundFlower which will work. Rogue Amoeba have their own called Loopback.

There are also some others listed here - http://alternativeto.net/software/soundflower/
