Q: i have an iPod classic which a friend used downloaded their music library onto and tells me there are loads of bugs which could infect my new iMac. If i connect the iPod and restore it to its factory settings will it infect my new iMac?

There would be nothing old left of the iPod Classic if you restored it to factory settings;

If he has been using the iPod with his AppleID, there would be an affiliation to the content &

his AppleID, so these instructions may apply to ready the iPod so you can use it.

This should allow you to erase the content and allow the unit to be restored to original status.
