Q: keeps shut down

Hello,

Since a couple of days my iBooks on my  i pad closes within a minute.

I thought I found a previous solution for this problem.

under the name my iBooks keep shut down

I've tried everything as mentioned but it still keeps shutting down.

Is there anything else I can try.

Many thanks in advance

Sincerly

Since we have no way of knowing what you have already tried, I'll start with the basics

Try a forced restart: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the restart.

    Dear Kilgore-Trout

First off all thanks for the quick response.

I've tried everything you mentioned. But nothing seems to help.

I've read somewhere that I can try with signing off from my apple account and login again.

Also this doesn't work for me.

I've also tried by resetting my iPad but the problem stays the same.

Maybe I should say that my iBooks not really shuts down.  After a little while it goes away to the background.

When i bring it back to the front it takes a little while to show my books on my device.

Then I try to sync my books from my imac using itunes but that doesn't work because it goes back to the background.

I hope this is a better description of my problem and the things I've already tried.

Is there anything else I can try or do, because the main reason I use my iPad is for reading books.

If you want more information please let my know.

    Sincerely

    Erik

Does iBooks allow you to simply download the purchases?

    Sorry, but this doesn't work.

After re connecting my device the sync starts (step 1 to 6).

But then it skips everything and nothing is synced.

I've checked the box to sync the iPad with Wifi and without.

Every time with connecting and disconnecting my device.

    It' strange.

Because until a few days ago everything worked allright and I have never had any problems during i guess 2-3 years.

And so far I know I haven't changed anything in my settings.

    ?????????????

I wonder what I can do.

Maybe checking in to an Apple store nearby???

    Thanks so far.

Let's hope I find a solution?  Or maybe you do???

    Sincerely

    Erik

If the books in question were purchased via iTunes, you do not have to sync to get them. You should be able to download them directly. That, however, would be a workaround. If a forced restart isn't working, you may need to try a restore.https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201252

Also, make sure you version of iTunes is up to date.

    Dear Kilgore-Trout,

I first tried a restore with a copy of my files from the cloud but that gave me the same problem.

After making a restore and install everything as a new iPad everything works so far.

I hope my problems are gone forever.

Anyway thanks for the quick response and help with the possible solutions

    Sincerely

    Erik

Actually, I have the same problem. iBook shuts down on my iPad after a minute or so. I've done everything in on every site that shows the problem. I've even deleted and reinstalled all my books. That helped for a while, but when I synced new books, the problem came back. Perhaps it is the number of book I keep on my iPad? (about 1000 books).

The problems started when I went from 700+ books to 980 books.

it might be more about what kind of books you have. i have had around 5000 on my phone (that worked perfectly for at least 2-3 years and still worked under ios 9.2.1). then the issues came with ios 9.3 and upwards.

after i delted everything from ibooks i just reuploaded all PDFs, apple epubs, epubs bought somewhere else and word data that i converted into epubs. THESE all functioned fine.

BUT after i started synching epubs that i downloaded from the internet in the past (like the ones you load in safari and open in ibooks or the ones you download in google chrome and put into itunes) THESE start all the issues (in my case at least). after a few hundred of them it all goes downhill from there.
