Spotlight copy paste URL truncated on first try

This one is hard to reproduce, but I run across it often.

Use case:

I often need to copy a url from a google meeting invite into a spotlight search to spawn the video conference for the event.

System:

MBP 13 Mid 2013

OS X 10.11.4

Chrome 50.0.2661.86 (64-bit). But it happened with older ones too

Steps to recreate; only happens intermittantly -

1. Open google event detail in Chrome, at calendar.google.com

2. Mouse select url from meeting detail

3. Command-C to copy URL

4. Command-Space to launch Spotlight bar

5. Command-V to paste URL

** URL is truncated in the search bar. Last two? digits are missing

6. Clear Spotlight search

7. Command-V to paste URL again. This time it works fine.

Has anyone else encountered this? I suspect it's a bug.

Do you get the same results when you Comman+A (select all), or triple-click on the address?

I've not tried that.

However, note that I don't need to re-copy the url to get it to work. I only need to re-paste. In essence, the first time I paste the url, a couple characters are missing from the end of the URL. From that point on, pasting works fine.

You're correct that I missed that distinction...

Do you experience the same issue when you paste the address directly into Chrome, or Safari Address / Search Field, rather than going thru Spotlight?

I have not seen this issue reported by others. Report it to Apple.
