Q: Why Does Apple Ask for Credit Card Details To Install FREE Upgrades, Then Refuse To Accept The Payment Details Entered?
Hello all,
I'm trying to download the supposedly "Free Upgrade" to install OS X El Capitan in my MacBook Air and Apple has been making me jump through hoops for the past 3 hours! What is up with that? I enter my UK credit card details and I'm told to contact www.apple.com/support. I enter my PayPal details, same nonsense! Why do I even need to enter payment details for something that is advertised as free, anyway? I try creating a new Apple ID, selecting "None" in the payment option and again I'm cordially invited to go jump off a cliff, sorry, I meant I'm told to contact www.apple.com/support. Disrespectful much? Is this how much the customers' precious time is worth to Apple? They bait us with a "Free Upgrade", then shove us down a rabbit hole in order to get our hands on their magnanimously awarded free gift? This is really infuriating! I've seen many threads with people raising the same issue but Apple doesn't give a flying fudge because they have done nothing to fix it. Any other options the community suggests I might try, other the ones already listed in my post?
Many thanks, indeed.
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5), null
