Website Incompatibilities with Safari

Has anyone else experienced a number of incompatibilities with websites? Some websites like "uptodate" and "tegrity" show up with incorrect formatting and some don't work at all and get error messages. I thought it was the website, but when I switched to chrome, the websites showed up just fine. Is there any con to using a non-apple supported browser like chrome? I've always been a mac user, but it seems like safari has always been an issue. I don't know why they can't make it more compatible.

Any recommended browsers that are consistently reliable?

No incompatibility issues at all on v10.11.4 and Safari 9.1. Always reliable.

Always a good idea to have a backup browser installed, but Safari should run fine for you.

If your Mac is running v10.11.1 as your profile suggests, updating OS X to v10.11.4 could help with Safari.

Click your Apple  top left in your screen.

From the drop down menu click About this Mac

Make sure the Overview tab is selected then click Software Update.

Your Mac may restart several times during the update process. That’s ok.

Try Safari.

If you still have problems, you may have a Safari extension or third party plug-in installed that's causing a conflict. It’s easy to troubleshoot.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Uninstall one extension at a time, quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
