I had the same problem with my Mac Air.
My screen flickered uncontrollably.
Resetting the the SMC and NVRAM did not work for me.
I did it a couple of times.
I diagnosed the problem in the Console app in Applications/Utilities/.
The most common information message I received in the Console app while the screen was flickering was to do with my keychain.
When I fixed/repaired my keychain, the problem stopped.
If you too are getting keychain error messages while your screen is flickering:
- Please search the internet for how to fix/repair your keychain for your version of OS. It is different for Lion, Mavericks, Sierra etc.
- Please make backups of your current keychain as instructed and follow instructions to fix or repair the keychain.
