Wireless Netgear Genie Router

I updated my Netgear Genius Router yesterday - Now it's program keeps popping up and I have to FORCE QUIT to get it to go away -

We have other devices connected to the wireless router.

1) did I update the router only on my computer ? OR...

2) did this update actually update the whole house router ?

3) What can I do about this update- it is a royal pain and I do NOT WANT TO AFFECT any other members of the household...

Thanks

While on the computer last night - a pop up alerted me that another device had connected to our router- I went into the "genie icon" (a green gene lamp icon) and checked "connected to ..." I saw our computer and I saw our cell phone which I had recently put onto WIFI. All was OK. Since I was in the page for the Router/Genie, I clicked on preferences top left corner and checked for updates... so I updated... Whatever I did is now a big mess,. The version it says on top left near the apple icon on top LEFT 2.4.12. My issues on my puter are "netgear page" pops up, have to force quit it - and when I started my puter up this AM that page opened up and had to force quite it and I believe my puter is running real slow like it is tripping over itself. Again I do not want to disrupt other members' puter in the house- My husband works from home on his . BIG Q whatever I did are we still safe and secure through this router? TY
