I may be missing something but console is the application to review what the computer is doing

terminal is the command line

can you get to terminal by going to spotlight and typing 'terminal'?

terminal on the left, console on the right:

I know perfectly Terminal.app and Console.app.

In past version of OS X, I could enter in the field user ">console", and the windows server came out and you entered in console mode, only text without GUI. This means fewer processes running and faster system for some personal needs. But in El Captain by typing in the word >console is user field in the login screen, I get the GUI out and is supposed expected from the shell prompt appear, but only looks a black screen. I check the Console.app application, for any error at start the shell, but not aper nothing to indicate that this happening.

Some suggestions?

Thanks by advance.
