Q: quicktime player converted video file from AVCHD to BDMV and now I can't view it

My QuickTime player converted my SD card video files from AVCHD to BDMV and now I can't view it on my computer as the BDMV file won't open with quicktime, any other application.  Please help!!  Thanks!!

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), canon video camera, Scandisk SDcard
