Q: Keynote won't save or close

When I go to close my keynote presentation, I get the pop up "Do you want to save the changes made to the document".

I click yes, or revert changes because it doesn't matter at this point. The document won't close after you click an option. I can also tell this is happening when the document stops completing "undo" tasks. It's so weird.

To get it to close, I have to use force quit, but it's a risk because I can't tell at what point did the document stop saving? I have to start a new keynote docs, copy all the slides into the new doc, save that new doc, then force quit. It's a lot of steps if that's what you have to do EVERYTIME you go to close keynote.

I've restarted my computer, gotten updates, I have no clue what's wrong.

This has been happening everyday for a 1.5 weeks.

This problem has occurred multiple times in the past, but then will go a couple months without happening

I'm using a macbook pro

Any thoughts?

Try using the Share menu to share the presentation via E-mail to yourself, and then try quitting and starting keynote again.

It also is possible Apple's AutoSave features have preserved your current work.

You can also try exporting the presentation to another format to at least preserve the content, which can also be done in the Share menu.
