Q: windows computer access read only
Hello,
so I have a USB HDD on my MacMini (OSX 10.11.4), I can see it on my laptop (Macbook Pro) and I have also managed to access it with my wife's Windows 10 laptop. I have made a user account for her on the MacMini under which she logs in (I have tried a Standard one and Sharing Only).
I want her to access only my photographs folder of the HDD and to have only read permissions (since the whole folder is organised by Lightroom I don't want her to be moving or removing something by accident) but it seems she has full read and write permissions?
When I want to see the permissions for the HDD or the Folder, it only says "you can read and write" it doesn't give me the usual user specific options.
When I go to system preferences, sharing, In the Shared folders I see the HDD, but in the Users bit I can see only my user account name (twice?!) and "Everyone", all three with read and write permissions, no mention of my Wife's account?
Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance
Regards
Ondrej

I suspect that when you were viewing permissions you were logged into your account. Log into her account and view the permissions of the external drive. You should then see her’s, staff, and everyone.
