Q: Old MacKeeper--should I dump it?
I have just transferred all the stuff from my 10-year-old iMac to my new El C iMac, meaning my oldish copy of MacKeeper came along. I began reading about AV protection because Best Buy included a free copy of Webroot with this Mac, and after I installed it I began to wonder what I'd done. I uninstalled it (as far as I can tell) using directions suggested by one of smart people who answer q's in these forums.
So, dumb.
But in reading I've begun to think I should get rid of MacKeeper too. I've never had any issues with it, as far as I know, and it has always found a bunch of unneeded stuff on my old Mac and already some on the new one (PC architecture). But do I need it?
So should I uninstall MacK? I haven't bought any of the updates, so the version I have is several years old, if that matters. I know it means it hasn't a clue about contemporary viruses.
Thanks!
Gail
