Q: Any way to tag and search bookmarks in Safari???

I just imported my bookmarks from Firefox. I lost all my tags and smart folders. Is there any way to tag or search my bookmarks?

Click the Sidebar icon   Safari Sidebar icon.jpg  top left side of the Safari toolbar.

Just under where you see this:

    Search Safari Bookmark.jpg

Just type your bookmark search keywords in the search field.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to tag Safari bookmarks but you can create a bookmark folder from the Bookmarks menu then add bookmarks to that folder then drag that folder to the Desktop. The Finder with automatically alphabetize the bookmarks, then drag that folder back to Safari.

That doesn't work. First, there's side-scrolling as it opens the sidebar. Second, I don't see any search bookmarks bar. Third, while the main search/url bar lists a few results, it doesn't give me any way to tag or sort or work with the results. Fourth, I want to organize bookmarks. Not alphabetize them.

If you don't see the search box in the sidebar, scroll up: it is at the top of the bookmark tree:

(I hope this helps. Safari bookmark management could be a lot better, IMHO.)

I'd say doh if it weren't for the poor UX. Clicking there + Ctrl-F is not implemented, and the combination of automatic scrolling past the search box on each open with the automatic hiding of scrollbars is... well, think unfortunate.

You can also click Edit at the bottom left, which will load a page with a Search box at the bottom right.
