I understand you are no seeing a list of email messages or mailboxes in the Mail app on your Mac. The first thing I would ask you to check is the View command in the Menu bar. If the mailbox list is hidden, when you click on the View command, you should see "Show Mailbox List."
If the column appears, do you see a category called ON MY MAC? Hover your mouse over the words and you should see an option to Show or Hide. Click Show and you should see your Inbox, Sent and other mailboxes appear. Also, I'm not sure if you have recently updated to Mac OS X El Capitan, but this might apply to you:
If some email messages or mailboxes are missing in Mail after upgrading to El Capitan
Take care,

May 12, 2016 2:41 PM in response to crutchyby Eric Root,If this is on a computer, try rebuilding the mailbox.
If that doesn't work, try re-indexing the mailboxes. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.
Reindex messages For El Capitan, try looking in V3.

May 14, 2016 10:39 AM in response to judysingsby crutchy,Hi Judysings,
I had managed to sort it. Rather simple. I went to the top of the screen and dragged my Mail list down. How it had disappeared in the first place I do not know!
Thanks for replying.
