Q: 2 X Airport Extremes connected to one router

Hi

I am needing a little advice, I have a dead wi-fi area in a extension in my house, I already have a a AirPort Extreme in my lounge, set to extend my network, I am thinking of buying another AE for the extension  ( to extend the wi-fi and Ethernet ) I cannot easily run a cable from one AE to the other. But I can run another cable from my Virgin Superhub 2 to the extension, I was wondering if I can use 2 separate cables from the hub to the AE's. See Diagram

And would I use the extend network option on the AE 2.

Regards

Mick

Yes, this should work. You have the basis for a roaming style network. Unfortunately, Apple has not updated the link I provided, but it still should provide you with the basic idea on how a roaming network is configured.

This type of network employs multiple wireless access points (WAP) to extend the Wi-FI range. It requires that each WAP be interconnected by Ethernet and that each will broadcast its own Wi-Fi. However, since each will broadcast using the same network name (aka SSID) and use the same wireless security type & password, wireless network clients will "see" them as a "single" network.
