TC not recognizing internet from Frontier modem

Hi,

Frontier just came out and upgraded my internet and gave me a new modem/router.

The way I have had things set up is that the internet line goes into the frontier modem, which is then hardwired into my TC and I broadcast an internet signal from the TC. I have wireless internet disabled from the frontier modem. I prefer to keep it that way because when I would use the old frontier modem, it kept dropping the wireless internet connection.

The problem is, now I can't get the TC and the new modem to talk. The light on the TC is blinking yellow. I can see the internet it is trying to broadcast, but I can't connect to it from my macbook air.

The new modem is an Actiontech F2250.

Can someone help me with whatever settings I need to change so I can use the TC as my router please?

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), null

Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule

Check to insure that an Ethernet cable connects from one of the four LAN ports (they are probably yellow in color) on the back of the Actiontec modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule

Power up the Time Capsule and let it run a few minutes

Is the indicator light on the Time Capsule slowly blinking amber, or is it green?

In either case, can you.......

  • Select the wireless network signal that the Time Capsule is providing
  • Log onto the network
  • Open AirPort Utility on the Mac (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)

Can you see the picture of the Time Capsule on your screen?

I did as you suggested. After plugging the TC back in, it's blinking amber.

I try to connect to the internet that the TC is providing - but it will not connect.

When I open Airport Utility when I am connected wirlelessly to the Frontier modem (I had to enable the wireless internet on there so I could work through this), there is no TC on the Airport Utility Screen.

If I try to connect to the signal that TC is putting out, in the Airport Utility, I do see the time capsule. There is a yellow dot under internet, saying it is disconnected. and A blinking amber dot under the TC. I took a screen shot of the details by the blinking yellow dot: User uploaded file

OK, thanks for the info. The screenshot really helps.

Click the Edit button in the lower right hand corner of the status window, and another screen will open with tabs across the top of the window for various settings.

Click the Internet tab

Change the setting for Connect Using to read DHCP

Click the Network tab

Change the setting for Router Mode to Off (Bridge Mode)

Click the Update button at the lower right of the screen

Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart, then power it off by pulling the power cord

Power down the Actiontec modem/router

Wait a minute

Power up the Actiontec modem/router and let it run a minute or two

Then, power up the Time Capsule and let it run a minute

Should now be a green light on the Time Capsule, and if you connect to the Time Capsule wireless network, you should be able to get an Internet connection.
