I am using audio from an old clip where the audio is way imbalanced to the left. In old FCP, I believe I could just set the pan to 01 and it would come out stereo.
How can I get the audio to do that in FCPX?

It's a stereo clip?
Select in timeline. Go to Audio inspector, in the channel configuration change from stereo to dual mono. Now you have access and controls on the individual tracks. Umm, I don't think you can ever go back to a stereo clip, though, so try this on a copy of the problem clip first.
