Q: band/other  to improve heart rate accuracy/split the baby?

I have used Polar heart rate straps for years. I also have a Scosche Rhythm Plus optical heart rate monitor. I have tried the Mio Fuse optical as well.

Some of the readings on the Apple Watch Sport are clearly not as accurate as these other monitors. I have plotted out the .tcx files to evaluate heart rate accuracy as compared with the most accurate chest strap.

The Scosche folks supply a stretchy band, so that the optical sensor can press on the skin properly and not move around. The claim for this is supported by their known accuracy. The dcrainmaker.com tests all of these, too.

Is there a better sport band that will allow a more accurate heart rate measurement?

I think Apple should be the top of the line for any item it has developed, but in this area they may not be. I wish they were.

Perhaps they should have 2 watches. One that is for sports, with weather/waterproofing, and super accurate heart rate monitor along with other bio features.

And another type of dress/work/connected watch for the office.

Should they split the baby?

How can I make my heart rate on the Apple Watch Sport work better? Maybe a more elastic band?
