Q: I live in a city where Comcast caps data usage at 300gb/month. To watch a movie I bought thru my AppleTV, does it download to the AppleTV device before playing, or does it stream (therefore using up data)?
Question about using Apple TV2. I live in a city where Comcast caps data usage at 300gb/month, most of which we use up from streaming movies and tv through a new Apple TV2 (64GB) and our Samsung Smart TV's app. I just purchased my first movie through iTunes and have a question about how/where it's stored/plays. When I watch it on my AppleTV2, does the movie download to the AppleTV device before playing, or does it stream from the cloud similar to rentals (and therefore uses up data)? Can the AppleTV2 store movies I've purchased, or do I have to download them to my computer? I've read that HD movies don't play well through HomeShare or iPlay, but perhaps that's outdated info. Thanks for the help.
AppleTV 2, Other OS, 64gb

Streaming and downloading uses the same amount of data.
The only difference would be if you want to watch the movie multiple times. In that case, downloading the movie first, would be more efficient in terms of data usage.
